Selecting a professional clinician
Selecting a professional clinician is an important first step toward managing your healthcare. This relationship can span from one meeting to intermittent encounters over years. No matter how long you plan to see a health care practitioner, the relationship is an important one. You need to select someone you feel comfortable having honest conversations with and someone with expertise in the areas that meet your health care needs.
When you are searching for the appropriate health care practitioner for yourself or a family member, you need to narrow it down. There are several different types of practitioners that can be identified. Some focus on children, Pediatrics; others are able to treat individuals of all ages, from newborns to the elderly, Generalists who treat a wide variety of circumstances, and often can also treat a condition such as an injury or women’s health need. Others specialize in the prevention, and management of disease and chronic conditions.
I have cared for individuals, adults and children, with medical conditions including Cancer and adverse effects accompanying it’s treatment, Gastrointestinal difficulties including Crohn’s and Irritable Bowel Disease, Heart Disease, and Hypertension. Many of my patients have dealt with Chronic Pain originating from Arthritis, Back and Neck disorders, Fibromyalgia, Headache and Nerve Pain; and Psychological concerns including Anxiety, Sadness, Sleeping Difficulties; Smoking Cessation and Weight Control. I have prepared individuals undergoing medical procedures – Angioplasty, Biopsy, Chemotherapy, Colonoscopy, Dental procedures, Endoscopy, Radiation Therapy, and Surgical preparation.
I focus my practice on both physical health and emotional health. Having a background as a Registered Nurse, caring for patients with pain, I know a small physical injury like a small wound can becomes more painful over time and could be a sign of the start of an infection. But I also know experiencing an unexpected or unwanted event can also create emotional pain which can initiate physical discomfort and illness. I use my nursing skills to assess a client prior, during and after a session.
Other practitioners may attempt to work with individuals en masse. I work with each client individually as every client has a unique circumstance to assess and recreate. I have also found a person is less likely to take responsibility for taking action or inaction when others are present. I do not leave my clients alone connected to an audio device to deliver a hypnotic message. We work together toward improvement and may create an audio presentation for use outside of our meetings.
