Quit the Habit: The Shocking Impact of Smoking on Your Body and Wallet

As high school students, we were often told to make smart choices regarding our health. But sometimes, those smart choices could be a bit of a buzzkill. So, I’m here today to talk about one of the unsmartest choices you could make: smoking cigarettes.
Now, I know what you’re thinking, “But smoking is just a stress reliever.” Trust me; I get it. But let me tell you, the adverse effects of smoking on your health far outweigh any temporary stress relief it might provide.
According to the American Cancer Society, smoking cigarettes is the leading cause of preventable death in the United States. It can cause lung cancer, emphysema, and heart disease, to name a few. And let’s not forget about the other health risks, such as decreased fertility and a greater risk of osteoporosis.
But it’s not just the physical health risks you must worry about. Smoking can also have a negative impact on your mental health. According to a study by the National Institutes of Health, smokers are more likely to experience depression and anxiety than non-smokers.
Now, I know this all sounds like a downer, but there’s good news. We can make a change, and it’s not as hard as you might think.
First, let’s start with quitting smoking. I know, I know, it’s easier said than done. But, there are resources available to help you quit, such as hypnotherapy, acupuncture, hypnotherapy, counseling and hypnotherapy.
Or try cutting back on the number of cigarettes you smoke each day. Every little bit helps.
